In June, 2008, Cassie and I ventured out to try our hand at herding. I was hoping to get her Herding Instinct Certificate. She was most unsure of those sheep. She had trouble understanding that this time not only was she allowed to chase these animals, but I actually wanted her to! We had a great time in the rain with the dogs and the sheep. She did not earn her certificate that time, but I certainly plan to try again! |
This picture is for anyone who may think that making a bed is a boring task. In my house, with seven porties wanting to help out, it is never boring and most certainly the task is never completed quickly. Oh, and for those of you who may be wondering, the three on the bed are playing, not fighting. This is a spirited breed! |

After making the bed and cleaning the house, wouldn't a nice, quiet bath be in order? Like everything else in my life, I have plenty of company. Even in the bathtub! |

Portuguese Water Dogs are definitely a spirited breed, but they also excel at Therapy work. I have three dogs who are certified with Therapy Dog International. They are calm, obedient and love their work with children or the elderly. They consider it their job and I cannot tell you how wonderful it feels to watch what your dog can bring to those they work with in therapy. |
In 2007, at the Portuguese Water Dog National Specialty, Miss Laney and I took to the water to try for her Working Water Dog title. The photographer caught us having a pep talk. Boy, did we have fun! |
I gave Mr. Nic a wonderful big bone when he was just about six months old. He had a wonderful time with that old thing. It was almost as big as he was at the time! |
Before Nic was even a year old, I had two litters of puppies in my house. He was gentle as a lamb with all of them - he played with them, lay with them and even allowed them to jump and nibble at him. The puppies learned so much from my sweet boy. |
Nic starting a tug-of-war with the puppies. |
